About

Who you will be sitting with

A small shop on Beeston High Road with the price lists in the window, the kettle on and no appointment book between you and a haircut.

Lucy cuts your hair

Every single customer who has written about this salon on Google names the same person. That is worth knowing before you walk in, because it means the person who talks to you about what you want is the person who then does it. Nobody hands you off after the consultation.

What people write about, over and over, is being listened to and not being hurried. If you have sat in a chair somewhere and watched somebody do a different haircut from the one you described, that is the difference you are paying for here.

There has been a salon here since 2002

Long enough that a good number of the people who come in have been coming for years. It is on the main shopping street, so you can get your hair cut in the same trip as everything else you came into Beeston for, which is most of the reason people put a haircut off.

It serves the student, international and local crowd in more or less equal measure, which is how the shop describes itself, and it is why the window says the salon specialises in Asian and Caucasian hair rather than pretending the two are the same job.

And Mo

There is a dog. He is called Mo, he is in the salon, and at least one customer has put him in a Google review as a reason she is coming back. If you would rather not be near a dog, say so when you come in and it will be sorted out. Nobody will make it awkward.

What the shopfront tells you

Most of what is worth knowing about this salon is already painted on it. Three lines in particular, in the shop's own words:

  • No Appointments

    On painted across the shopfront.

  • We specialise in Asian and Caucasian hair design

    On the window banner.

  • A skin test is necessary 48 hours prior to any colour services, except hi-lights.

On the foot of the hair price list in the window.

One thing this site does not cover

The same premises also runs an aesthetics business under a separate name. It is not described anywhere on this website and nothing here should be read as being about it. If that is what you came looking for, ask in the salon and you will be pointed at the right person.

Questions people ask before they come in

Do I need to book?

For hair, no. It says No Appointments across the front of the shop, so you can walk in during opening hours. For a spray tan or a hot stone massage, ring 07718 001640 first, because the room or the stones need setting up before you arrive.

What does it cost?

The full hair, waxing and nail price lists are up in the windows and inside the salon, so you can read them before you come in. This site only prints the spray tan price, because that is the one the salon has put on a banner itself. Ask at the desk for anything else and you will be told before you sit down.

Where exactly are you?

113 High Road in Beeston, NG9 2LH, on the main shopping street. Look for the purple frontage with No Appointments painted across it and the tables outside.

Can I get a colour done on the day?

Not on the day you walk in, no. Their own price list says a skin test is necessary 48 hours before any colour service except hi-lights, so come in two days beforehand for that and then have the colour done.

Do you cut men's hair as well?

Yes. There is a barber pole and the word Barber on the window, and the price list has its own men's section, plus separate rates for senior citizens and for under 11s.

Is there a dog in the salon?

There is. His name is Mo, and at least one customer has mentioned him in a Google review as a reason to come back. If you would rather not be around a dog, say so when you come in.

Can I message instead of ringing?

Yes. There is a decal in the window telling you to call or message Lucy, and the Facebook page takes messages. There is also a form on the contact page if you would rather write it down.

Come in and see for yourself

There is no appointment book. Walk in during opening hours, or ring Lucy on 07718 001640 first if you want to check somebody is free.
